Garra Rufa (Doctor Fish)
Garra Rufa fish live in the river basins of the Northern and Central Middle East, mainly in Turkey & Syria.
They have been used for centuries to treat skin conditions such as psoriasis and eczema and their exfoliating abilities are now widely used across the Far East for fish pedicures and fish massage.
They require water temperatures of around 35c so your feet are sure to receive a warm welcome. What’s more, they’re known to secrete Diathanol, which is said to encourage skin regeneration.
Don't worry the Garra Rufa do not have teeth, they gently nibble and suck and they only consume the dead areas of the skin, already softened by the warm water, leaving the healthy skin to grow. The sensation is similar to a jacuzzi jet as the skin is massaged and stimulated by these little pedicurists! Each tank or 'pod' contains up to 200 fish and is constantly cleaned using ultra-violet light.
